I was with a group of friends on a trip. One of the guys in the group did that because there were 5 guys to 2 Queen sized beds. He didn't want to spend the extra money for another hotel room. Men stayed in one room and Women stayed in the other. That same friend has a strict policy because of his religious views that men and women can't share a bed unless married even if there's no sex involved.
There were 3 of us women and 2 Queen sized beds. I shared with one of the women in our group.
Please clarify, OP ... because of this guy's strict views, then NO ONE in the group could share a bed with the opposite sex? I'd tell him to shove it. If he doesn't want to share a bed with a woman, then that's fine. But his views don't get to control anyone else's behavior.
Seems to me that you have 2 rooms and 8 people. Split the cost of the rooms evenly. If he decides sleeping on the floor is HIS only option, that's his choice.

No, and I wouldn't lie on top of hotel bedspreads as they are seldom washed. Your friend could have for a rollaway bed.
Putting a blanket underneath you still won't keep you from breathing the dust and other carpet crap. I'm an asthmatic and allergic to some animals as well as dust -- sleeping on the floor could put me in the ER. No one who has allergies should sleep on a hotel room floor. Your natural defenses are at their weakest in the wee hours of the morning.
Recently I had the horrifying experience of getting a "nice" room but waking up every five minutes coughing like an 80 year old smoker. I got someone else in there to check it out. It seems a recent visitor had had a dog with them and the dog had peed on a bed pillow. Somehow it was allowed to dry and the maid just put a different pillowcase on it.
Hell, I don't even like to walk on a hotel room floor. But hey, as long as the religious freak who caused the problem is the one who slept on the floor, I guess it all worked to everyone's satisfaction.
These days I won't even share a room, much less share a bed
Floor? Not if I was paying for the room.
Had a very short friend, would volunteer to sleep in the bathtub. No dust, no dander, no bedbugs.
