Sounds like it went well, though it doesn't sound like he was brooding over this for the past quarter century.

Honestly, when someone cheats on you and leaves you, you're better off without them. I've never met someone whose life would be happier if their cheating ex had stayed. Couples can find happiness again with each other after cheating happens in a relationship, but if you're at the point where you'll leave your spouse for someone else, then the relationship is pretty much done. It's not just that someone lost their way, but that at least one person in the couple has seen their feelings change - and not for the better.

I'm of the opinion that if the spirit (or your conscious, or whatever you want to call it) moves you to tell someone you're sorry, than it's best to do so. Who knows...you might've provided some much needed closure for that person.

Do you know what that quote actually means? It doesn't mean what you seem to think it means.

Who really cares? In this situation, it means what I say it means. No need for lectures.

I agree with this.

I often think we carry guilt with us and telling someone we are sorry or just talking about it helps.

OP, I’m really impressed that you had felt something “gnawing” at you. A lot of people get so wrapped up in everything as it relates to them that they miss the opportunity to learn something from bad situations.

I wish I would have learned a few things regarding how someone perceives & then relates a past break up & an ex experience; before I wound up where I am now.
