Very interesting, Kevxu...like the music and books idea. They are, I agree, just pleasant, normal days. I put up white lights inside as they make me feel warm and fuzzy, but not from any religious view...just like them.

My friend will be inviting me up to her place for Christmas Eve and I go because she's my friend. To be honest, I'd rather stay home alone.

But Christmas Day and through New Year's I'll be by myself. I like being alone, so that's not a big deal. I might call my mom on Christmas Eve in the morning - there won't be any getting hold of her after that. I've already had my once-a-year Christmas pizza, so New Year's Eve (or afternoon), I'll probably make the drive over to Long John Silver's and get some fish for a New Year's meal. I know my friend is getting me some books, so I'll enjoy spending the time to read, read, read.

Aside from that, the holidays will be pretty much like any other day and I'm fine with that. Unfortunately this year, it doesn't look like we'll be getting a white Christmas like we did last year.

Once a year pizza??? I'd never make it

Read, read, read...me too. Bought plenty of used books for the holidays.

Enjoy, rr!

Last night I ordered three books on Amazon, which should arrive as soon as tomorrow. I will react by saying, "for me?!"

Yes, presents to myself. It's just me and a few dogs now. I'm more than fine with that; a few social holiday events this month and that was that. I have a portico I decorate, but otherwise the house interior is virtually free of Christmasy stuff. Lots of ornaments from bygone days now packed away. I will order takeout on Christmas Eve. Watch movies, read. At 62, being healthy really tops the list. Nothing else I can imagine complaining about.

I've spent a few Holidays alone in the past. Sometimes we go to the parents' home the week after Christmas because my siblings are at their in-laws on Christmas day. It's not difficult when you enjoy being alone.

My preferred activity is a long drive on a narrow, winding road.

My current boss throws a big party at her house for people who are by themselves, so this year I'll be with my work buddies on Christmas and my relatives on New Year's Day.

As for the time in between Xmas and New Years, I will be alone, and I will spend it the way I spend that time period every year ... trying to figure out how to get myself into a career that means something to me (or this world), and trying to figure out how to best spend the remainder of my life...
Ha ha! Best answer yet! So aside from playing carols, could be just another day?

Since I will have the house to myself I am going to kick back, relax, and not worry about a damn thing.
