The candle was a good idea, from the point of view of someone who doesn't like gifts. Like others have mentioned I would not want a plant, or flowers. Cut flowers smell and die, plants need care, plus I have a cat.

If the candle smells it can be tucked away until the giver leaves, then thrown away.

Food -again if a menu is carefully planned, food isn't always welcome. A plate of cookies is as far as I would go there.

Glad the OP had a nice time with the potential in laws.

She's early 30's, he's mid 30's, it's time he gets to find "the one." He's been hoping to settle down to have kids years ago. He's a good guy, has been very responsible in his relationships. He deserves someone special.

Hopefully your son's works out well too. Dating these days is a different ballgame then when we were younger.
Sounds like our sons are on the same page

This is our son's first serious one. He is taking it slow.

Smile Wow, that made my day - thank you!

Friday night, we got a phone call that the puppy we were going to get was no longer available as the owners were going to show her rather than sell her.

I was so sad and obviously I took it hard even though I tried to sleep.

Saturday morning, we heard one of the other puppies was available. We went to see her and she is now ours. But, I guess the stress of all that caused me to have a huge migraine (never had one) and I was just down for the night - with a new pup!

Anyway, got to have fun with her today and she is gorgeous, smart already, was a really good girl - waited to go outside so the owners had worked with her....anyway, she catches on. Our collie seems very protective of her.

I just need a positive, good week ahead!!

Excited about our son being with a nice girl - and taking it slow and I'm excited about our new addition.
(Little sable sheltie 9 1/2 weeks). She's a sweetie!

That stinks that they changed their minds on the original puppy, thankful it worked out. Sounds like it was meant to be!

My son went to Puerto Rico with his GF last week, haven't seen him yet. It's his first ever adult vacation that he did not drive to. She won the trip at work. I don't see either of them have posted pics on Facebook as of yesterday. She usually posts pics from where ever they go. Funny, she's one of the only GF's that has not friended me on FB. I'm friends with all of his past and friends who are girls lol Wish I'd meet her one of these days.

He hasn't been on a plane since he was under 10, going to visit his grandparents in Myrtle Beach. I can't wait to hear how their trip went.

Hard to go wrong with a plant. Or, as long as they're not teetotalers, a bottle of wine.
