I never meant to push him to do anything, my own thoughts are just that if I were him I would go see him no matter what went on growing up. Seeing him doesn't mean he has to change his feelings on matters, it just means when he looks back on things in the future he gets to know he went when the opportunity presented its self.
I agree with you that he is an adult and makes his own decisions. This is one case where even if he regrets things down the road you will never want to say "I Told You So"
