As you can imagine, my son was not able to go out very often because of his allergies and severe asthma so every little outing was a big deal to him.

An hour before we were to join her at the theatre, she called. My MIL did not want to take my son because she was "afraid" he was still "contagious"....dumb de dumb, dumb, dumb....neither of his ailments were contagious....she just did not want to be bothered with him!

Stupid!

As a MIL and grandmother I am going to chime in here-it doesn't matter what "hat" a person is wearing-self centered people are self centered people. It is too bad this grandmother is ruining her chances for interacting as the granddaughter growns up. Over time people will just draw away and then the drama will be about how lonely she is, never realizing this is a self inflicted condition. Good for parents who protect their offspring from nasty people whatever hat they wear in the family. Remember, your dog is the only family you get to pick-the rest just are there by accident!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any kind of hat works for them since their world stops at the end of their fingertips. No one else's feelings, thoughts or desires count since there is no direct benefit to the one who is self centered.
