Hell yeah man! 6'4", I feel like a giant...back seats, air line seat, bus seats, back of cop cars. They all suck. Take your shirt off and put your hand in a ceiling fan. Go skipping through the house and nearly snap your neck on a doorframe. Thank god I'm not any taller...

I am 5'6, it may be short but I see a TON of men my height... live in California and there are a lot of Latin men as well and they are all 5'5-5'7....I don't think it's a big deal here.

Sometimes it seems that way, especially as a short guy ... like there's a group of 5 dudes at the store and they're all 6'2".

But then other days there will be a group of guys and they're all pretty little. I was at Outback Steakhouse the other day, and the bartender and waiters were all around 5'5" to 5'9". And there was one guy who was like 5'2". And they were all white.

So 5'10" sounds pretty spot on.

In NYC, if you were to count all of the Mexican and South American immigrants (legal and illegal), it'd probably bring the average height down a few inches. Many of them hover around the 5 foot mark and under.

About that tall with shoes. I feel very tall when I'm in Border towns all the time. I work for a very large Engineering firm and depending on what area of the country I'm in I can feel very short.

I have a friend who is 6'1" and he feels only average. This statistical average of 5'9" or 5'10" has got to be outdated and if it wasn't than my height of 5'8" is close to average and most men I see are taller and many alot taller than 5'8".
I took a job search seminar from a guy who had had a career as a salesman. He was 5'6, and talked about how he used to get down on himself for being "short". He used to think that his stature held him back in life, in many ways. Then he did some research, and discovered that for his era (1960's - 1970's), his height was exactly average. That turned his outlook around completely. He realized he wasn't runty, he was average, and gained a lot of confidence. He went on to have a very successful career in sales.

I'm 5'7, and I think 5'8 is just fine. You're seeing a lot of tall men because that's what you've psyched yourself to look for. You're not noticing all the guys who are 5'7 and 5'8, much less the shorter guys. 5'8 is great. Some women have posted on the forum that they're tall, 5'9 or more, and they're married to 5'8 and are perfectly happy. It's all in the mind, OP. Enjoy life.

I have also heard 5'9 is average. In CA it might be a tad shorter with the large Latino population. We are moving to Cleveland, and when I have been there it seems there is a SLIGHT difference, people are a touch taller.

My husband and I are both the same height more or less (5'7) and it doesn't bother me.
