What are ages of people you hang out with outside of work?
Same age? Older or younger?
Many of my friends/associates I hung out with before were around my age, but they live far away from me now.
I recently started a new job and I really seem to click with this one guy. We have the same work ethic, same interests, and really enjoy hanging out at work.
He is much younger though, early 30's while I am almost 15 years older. I suppose nothing too out of the ordinary, it's not like it's a girl that I want to date. Just something that crossed my mind because he's been inviting me out to hang out on a few weekends.
I hang out with an older friend sometimes for dinner and cards. She's 75, I'm 57. She's not an "old lady", though, in her behavior. She's pretty active and still works part-time.
Wide age ranges for DH and I.
We just had dinner with a couple in their early 30s. In a few days, I will be meeting up with a group of women ranging in ages from 60 to 89.
The older I get, the less age matters. I honestly don't know the age of many of my friends. I can guess sometimes, based on the ages of their children, but it doesn't matter to me, or to them apparently. Common interests trump years.
The best neighbour I ever had was a 95 year old lady! We didn't 'hang out' but she did used to invite me in for chats and a cup of tea. I was really sad when she passed away Now I have rubbish neighbours and wish she was still around.
Since I was in my thirties and figured out that it's a good thing to have a few women friends older than I am I've had a mix of friends. Those women have been where I'm going and I can learn a lot from them.
I also have friends up to thirty years younger than I. A lot of people need mentors and/or parent figures. If they figure out I may be useful and ask questions, I answer. If not, we play.
