In some cases, im sure this is possible..but, ultimately, it is one's choice as to how they deal with stress brought about by another...and yes, i'll admit that i have had a couple of these experiences...Mainly after finding out an ex GF i had feelings for had cheated..It's no excuse for my actions just how i chose to deal with it at the time...
Now, if the GF wanted to have a little drunk action some night..Id definitely drink a few more then normal to that..lol

I think the stress of a horrible relationship may lead someone to start drinking or indulge more than normal. Too many people turn to drugs when they get stressed out. A downward spiral, IMO.
