Know anyone who puts people down old friends when meeting new friends? (females, males)

I'm married and we go out with mix of singles (usually guys) and couples. I recently observed that two of my single guy friends behavior. Seems that part of their strategy to picking up girls is to talk down about the other one. I saw this happen maybe 3-5mins into the conversation. An example..."You have perfect teeth, not like XXX's crooked teeth." Just random stuff like that; I'm going to talk to them about it. I wonder if it's a competitive thing or if they think a display of power strategy will better their odds...Maybe a little of both.

Know anyone like this or any other insights?

This struck me as funny.... it reminds me of the way "females" behave.

This is mild! My friends and I goose each other with tools when we are working on cars. Kick each other in the a** . Cheat every time we are in a competition. Burn rubber over to the junk yard to buy a part out from underneath each other. etc.... etc.... LMAO............ IMO, they aren't that weird OP.

These guys I have known my whole life. We will be BF's until the day we die! They are more like brothers to me. That doesn't mean we would put each other down though. We are just a bunch of pranksters. That is probably why we have remained friends all these years? Rugged
