This is true. I've met some very friendly and down to earth people from other parts of the country. On the contrary, I've ran into some very spiteful and rude people from all parts of the country, too.

I've never been to Fayetteville. Well, I've been through it a few times en route to Washington, but that's about it. I've only heard this, so I apologize if I offended you. Just going off hearsay, which is assuming and you know what happens when you do that

LOL, thanks! It may be one of my most creative accomplishments yet! Shall we manufacture those bumper stickers? We'd be rich!

All kidding aside, I think you SHOULD pursue it. That is a very original thought. It could actually work to get people to stop tailing you too closely, as it's said in jest, instead of the angry "Back Off" types of messages we typically see. A little psychology goes a long way, sometimes.
Best regards,

I'm sorry for this.
If it makes you feel any better, I've lived in California, Florida, CT and now NC in a few weeks and I've heard this awful mentality in all these states-particulary southern California believe it or not. I don't think this problem is an exclusive southern problem at all. I've been in Florida for about a decade and have only heard a few slurs. Scum is scum no matter where they hang their hat.

We moved to NC two years ago from NY and it is a nightmare. We moved to Matthews and then looked for a larger place to find one scam after another as a renters. We came here to get settled and then buy a home. We eventually moved to Charlotte and it is crime ridden and racist. The saying "Southern Hospitality" does not apply here. As soon as we can we are moving back to New York. It is not just that the economy crashed, Charlotte is still embedded with a racist infrastructure--that anyone coming from the northern states will noticed--from, jobs, housing, economic, education. The city has grown, but it has not caught up with diversity. Even finding nice ethnic shops, and restaurants--they rarely exist. The place lacks the cultural stimulation you have in the north and if you wanted to either be pushed into all white neighborhoods, or predominately black neighborhoods as your choice of living--it sours the experience. And although there are integrated communities--the essence of what a community is does not exist here. This is a fake city.

How many times do you plan to post this? You sound like a broken record.
If you are so miserable, move already. But just so everyone knows the truth it should be stated that the vast majority of folks who move here from the northeast NEVER move back, and are very happy here

Southern hospitality must have existed once upon a time, or there would be no such terminology.
That said, the Southern culture is so 'diluted' now due to the influx of people from elsewhere - seeking our lifestyle - that you can hardly blame anything on the 'Southerners' alone.
To anyone who is unable to find/identify Southern hospitality, I suggest you first look into a mirror to determine what the cause might be.
As many other 'Southerners' would tell you, we are quite weary of people moving to our lovely state, and then whining and griping because we "don't do it like they do" where they moved here from. If you thought that way of life was so good, why come here in the first place?
Just saying... that road that brought you here isn't one-way, and it's not likely that your neighbors are holding you hostage in your misery.

I relocated to SC and was really mentally prepared to be hated because I'm from the North....not only that I'm from the state of NY !! Double whammy on me!
But I didn't move here wanting to change things and make them like "back home." If "back home" was so great why would anyone ever leave?
Because I don't have the attitude that everything here needs fixing, I don't get crap back form people. Sure, I get called a Yankee occasionally, but I haven't been verbally attacked like people on here like to claim. I've met people who aren't thrilled with Northerners invading their neck of the woods, but the first words out of my mouth aren't "well this needs fixing." Amazing how not trashing someones home makes peace quickly!
There's racism everywhere. Sorry but NC nor the South are the only places it exists.
I admit there is something I'd like to change about where I live in SC.....the 100+ days! We had a period of time where it was 100+ for about 2 weeks. There's NOTHING I or anyone else can do about that one.....well except for Mother Nature and I'm pretty sure she's not making house calls.
When you move to a new area - town or state - you get back what you put out. If you act like an ass, you'll be treated as such. If you act like a lady/gentleman, you'll be treated like that back. If you go around trashing EVERYTHING around, guess what happens? You think locals will be nice to you? Yeah and I have lake property available in AZ! If "back home" is damn wonderful, the state line is waiting for you! Don't let the door hit ya on the way out!
