I find it amusing that anybody who willingly choose to live in what is widely known as a sprawling "bedroom community" like Fuquay would be the one to draw attention to the ills of the modern suburbia lifestyle and self described wasteful consumption of fossil fuels.

I live in suburbia too, but I have already found my own ways to contribute to fuel conservation. Be a part of the solution: drive a fuel efficient vehicle, carpool, ride your bike, or take the bus even if requires a "park & ride" approach.

Costco Connection - May 2006

Bottom line....NASCAR is a drop in the bucket in terms of fuel consumption in the US...

From the above link:

" ... on an average day about 200 million gallons of gasoline are consumed by the 135 million passenger cars in the US. ....if the current national average fuel efficiency of 22 miles per gallon were increased by just 1 mile per gallon, we would save 600 times what NASCAR uses each year."

Keep tilting at windmills if that is your wont....

But americans will not change their wasteful ways. 22 cars idling at a drive up window of my local bojangles waiting for a buscuit!

Happy motoring! 22 mpg increase it by 1 mpg? How about 10 mpg? Why are americans still driving idiotic suvs??

It is the mindset. The fact that they have stopped the light rail idea in the triangle is the dumbest idea yet.

OOps its all about CARSCARS and more cars, I mean Suvs and more suvs.

Nascar is just the front I am using here. But the fact that it pushes so many buttons is proof that you will not change your ways.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet: Formula 1 cars now run ENTIRELY on Ethanol.

"The use of 100% fuel-grade ethanol makes the IndyCar Series the first in motor sports anywhere in the world to embrace a renewable and environmentally friendly fuel source. The series is now at the forefront of the greening of racing."
