No....I don't care what anyone says...it's not even close.

Someone at my old job used to bring in fried livermush sandwiches for breakfast....oy vey.

It must be an acquired taste...cause her seven year old loved it to.

Don't know if North Carolina's really renowned for it, but my wife still raves about the trout in several western North Carolina restaurants we've visited -- not surprising, with so much excellent trout fishing close by. Afraid I can't top "livermush," though.

Not a food, but NC also leads the nation in brick production, furniture manufacturing, emeralds (state gem) and granite (state rock).

NC is #2 in the growing of cucumbers. Mount Olive pickles come from Mount Olive, NC.

Top 5 in peanuts, strawberries, blueberries, trout, poultry & egg products, broilers, catfish, and snap beans.

Top 10 in tomatoes, cotton, watermelons, apples, chickens, sweet corn, dairy, livestock, bell peppers, cabbage, squash, eggs, and grapes.

Top 15 in pecans, soybeans, corn for grain, Irish potatoes, oats, sorghum grain, winter wheat, barley, peaches, milk, hay and farm cattle.

Krispy Kreme was founded in Winston-Salem.

The oldest known grapevine in the US grows on Roanoke Island. It's called Mother Vineyard and is over 400 years old.

For a long list of NC facts, check out my blog. Follow the link in my profile, click on "View Blog", then look for "NC Facts" in the right margin.

I hope that was okay, mods. I apologize if it was not.

But what IS it? Is it chopped liver? Seems like I remember my dad ordering some in Spruce Pine (he was SO delighted to get it) and it came in a small bowl. UGH!
