I drive down to Orlando every year for the holidays and would like some hotel/motel recommendations. We normally don't stop and just switch drivers every few hours, but this year we have something planned for the first night we check in and we don't want to be too tired to enjoy our plans. We'd like to get a room early and not pay walk-in rates if possible. Thanks!

The Doubletree on Cedar Creek Road in Fayetteville at exit 49 is nice. So is the Holiday Inn.

It depends on how far you intend to get before you stop--probably somewhere in Georgia? If so, the Georgia board might have better knowledge.

I would stop in Savannah GA, it's almost exactly half way and a great town to visit.

I'd suggest the hotels right off I-95 at exit 95 in Smithfield, NC.

I'm pretty sure Fayetteville is considered the half-way point from about NY to FL.

Fayetteville would be. If you are only looking for a place to lay your head, Fayetteville is good. The reason I recommend Smithfield is the proximity of activities to the hotel. So if you want to eat at a restaurant, catch a movie, shop at the outelets, or stroll around their downtown. It's all right by a cluster of hotels.
