One of the best 4th's ever for me--my wife and I went up to the top of Big Bald Mountain, located near Mars Hill (on the back side of the Wolf Laurel resort). A picnic basket, some wine, and a blanket (yes, it was cold up there! wink, wink). From there we could see fireworks displays from four different towns down below. It was an awesome experience!

Thanks for the listing all of these in one place! I know I'll be at Old Salem becuase I love the historic element of their celebration. They've got old-fashioned toys and firecrackers for the kids to play with, plus the Moravian Brass Band and the chior will be performing. The music is so beautiful!

SunnyKayak: Is it possible you have too much time on your hands.

I used to sell hot dogs at The Episcopal Church in Southport during the parade. The Parade is pretty good with the small town atmosphere. ARRIVER EARLY, STAY LATE or you will freak out in the traffic.

Quote:
Red, White and Boom! 2009 presented by Lance fireworks show will be approximately 20 minutes long. The show begins at 9:30pm (weather and fire department clearance permitting). The show will be synched to a music track that will be heard exclusively on 96.9 FM WKKT, The Kat and played live at all viewing venues. The show can be viewed from a variety of locations around the city. If you are in the eastern part of the city and you can see the skyline, chances are, you can see the fireworks display. There is ample parking in Uptown Charlotte, but on-street parking will be not be allowed to avoid restricting traffic lanes as fireworks viewers drive in and out of the city.
