Default Study: N.C. among worst states for traffic woes

Quote:
Motorists in California, Minnesota, New Jersey and North Carolina have been stuck in some of the worst traffic in the United States, according to a study released Thursday.

North Dakota and South Carolina roads rated highest in the study's overall rankings, while New Jersey roads ranked the lowest. The study ranked Montana highways as the deadliest in the nation.

HA. Coming from So Cal to Raleigh, I have the right to say that. There is absolutely, positively, no comparison.

And the best roads just happen to be in states with very low populations, therefore no traffic...hmmmm. Good study.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with needhalc...there definately is no comparison to CA traffic in NC. I have spent the last 40 years driving CA roads and NC is not even in the same ball-park. At least from what I have experienced here so far. You're talking hours on CA freeways to go 20 miles. I may be wrong (I can't see how) but perhaps I've been missing all the NC traffic somehow!! Have been all through the Piedmont and mountains so far and no problems yet....not even in Charlotte during traffic time. I have hit some traffic, don't get me wrong....but nothing like in CA, thank God!!

Actually here is the Reuters story: California has worst U.S. traffic: study - Yahoo! News (broken link)

I don't see NC listed the same way that the AP story listed it. It would be interesting to see the original study. Liz

Where did the get the idea that N.C. has the worst traffic? It is nothing compared to DC or California traffic.

Wasn't so much "worst traffic" part of the study was based on how long one had to sit in bumper to bumper traffic (ie: congestion) because most likely the area does not have nor has kept up with what is needed to move their residents thru in a timely matter. NC was in the top ten.

They also had how much money per mile was spent by the State for roads.
NC again very low. But I believe if I recall correctly SC was the worst in the entire country for spending money on roads.

There were several different results from the study.

Have you been to Missouri? Their roads are terrible and full of potholes.

Missouri is SMOOTH compared to MI and PA, LOL. And NC roads are a dream. I just moved down here from MI...I may actually be able to keep my wheels aligned now. Liz
