I resided in NC and yes the "civil war" is apparent down there. I am originally from NY and lived in NC. I was a single, white professional lady who lived in Charlotte. THe southern women are very biased, and small town mentality, they don't receive newcomers very well, unless you are from the area, have the standard volvo, picket fence, two kids, and a husband. In may ways, I made more male friends, both black/white, and found the southern women very 'pretentious', especially when they have lived there all their life and never anywhere else.. shallow minds.
