The place looked like Raleigh with taller and nicer skycrapers. Unfortunetly there was hardly any street level activity and retail, or older buildings. It looked too sterile, if you ask me.

If I took Charlotte for what is was ( a large instead of major city), I don't think I would have been so disapointed. The hype must stop. It's seriously misleading. I've lived in ATL ,Baltimore, and DC, Charlotte isn't even in the same solar system as these places. When I left, I did my homework, stats, geoghaphy, history, economy etc. When it was all said and done the city stats Charlotte claims are bloated, Raleigh has 1/2 million more square feet of retail Downtown than Charlotte, the so called CSA pop of 2.1 million consists of FIFTEEN COUNTIES!.... Charlotte gets an A+ in marketing. Raleigh gets a C-.

Charlotte is a lone central city. That works in its favor very well. I love Charlotte, but you guys are pushing it with all of the boosterism.

P.S. Skyscrapers aren't the only thing that make a downtown, ask Washington D.C.
I agree 100% with your statements.

TomnNC is on a distinguished road
Metro, my friend, your entitled to your opinion, but the majority of people would say that Charlotte is ahead of Raleigh in all aspects. I dont see Donald Trump wanting to build property in Raleigh/Durham! You want a big city? NYC is the place for you. The size of Charlotte is perfect for us. Not to mention that it is clean, green, and has what I call a "quiet confidence." I wouldnt live in ATL, BLT, or DC if you paid me. Sure, the nightlife may be superior, but they quality sure isnt. You want to talk about crime, traffic, and headaches...I am sure the growth of Charlotte is just a coincidence!

It just so happens all of those aspects are subjective. Otherwise, there would be no argument.
