Thanks Francois, I was also wondering how in the world so many non-english speakers are able to pass the DMV test. Maybe the book is organized better now than 10 years ago when it seemed like a collection of rules in no particular useful order. But a quick survey among friends revealed the most intelligent among us also had the most frustration answering the questions correctly. Also we agreed that some only had "sign identification" mostly while others had to regurgitate verbatim the rules pertaining to DWI and points. So Francois it would make sense that rote memorization would result in successful passing of the test. Has anyone made flashcards or a trivia game based on the NC DMV book yet?

Maybe we could play a thread game and post license test questions and maybe stuff they should emphasize more important from the actual book. & add what we all think should be added. We all could use a refresher course.

I took it last week and got 100%. Just read the book, pay close attention to the highlighted areas, and also know the road signs by their shapes and colors. During the Vision portion of the test, you'll be asked to identify about 10 road signs by name. (Some are blank shapes with no lettering)
There are 25 questions in total and you need to get 20 correct to pass. You have the option of a few skipping questions if you are unsure of an answer.
This is helpful:
North Carolina Driver License Exam BrainDumps: Study Guide for the NC DMV exam (http://web.archive.org/web/20071231154433/http://www.jaytomlin.com/NCDMV/2006/09/study_guide.html - broken link)
If you memorize those facts + read the comments that follow, you should do well.
There are lots of factoids from the book that are helpful to memorize. I suspect they want to be sure you at least read the book and are familiar with NC laws.
