Fayetteville continued its move up the ranks of the Milken Institute's list of the country's "Best Performing Cities Index," which measures economic strength. The city's metro area was ranked 18th on the latest list, up from 31st last year, 52nd in 2008 and 80th in 2007. Killeen, Texas, was first.
