There are several outdoor dramas in North Carolina. What is your favorite outdoor drama, when did you last see it, and what is the season schedule.
We don't necessarily have to limit this to North Carolina Outdoor Dramas.

Maybe I asked for too much information. We love outdoor dramas and I went to a website that lists some in North Carolina, but realize that not all outdoor dramas in the state are listed. I am just trying to find out if there are any out there besides the popular "Horn in the West," "Unto These Hills," etc. I want to get a list of all of them and go see them.

New question: Have you been to an outdoor drama and please name it.

The Lost Colony is probably North Carolina most famous. It's been running for 70 years.

I recently found this website that lists outdoor dramas for the entire United States.

Unto These Hills in Cherokee has been running a long time, but has been struggling lately, primarily because those drawn to the Casino have no interest in anything else. Think they even have tried to "glitz" it up to draw more people, which is not how the history of the Cherokee should be presented.

Wow... fun to read about the outdoor dramas. Used to live in NC, and my Grandparents were life-long Boone folk. My Dad grew up on Oak Street just a hop, skip and jump away from "Horn in the West". Used to go and see that when I was a little girl visiting my Grandparents. Great show, and you can't beat a nice summer evening in Boone. Glad to read this post - brought back some nice memories.

Saw "Unto These Hills" when in college at WCU. Nice show, also. Haven't been to Cherokee in over 15 years. No casinos when I was last there, and it was already starting to lose its culture then. I'd hate to see it now.

If you are ever in the St. Louis area in the summer, you have to catch a show at The Muny. It is the nations largest and oldest outdoor theater. A real treat for young and old alike. You can learn more at The Muny.

Great post, and thanks for the memories! As much as I love where I live now, I do miss my NC!
