I'd like to inquire from the locals about Time Warner cable (for tv and high speed internet). I've had very good success here with Comcast in Boston, so I have no reference points for Time Warner. I think a basic bundlofe tv and high speed is around $90/mo- it seems a little higher to me, it doesn't include any HD though. I need to get the details.

I'm actually asking because I'm seriously considering Dish Networks as they have a ton of HD programming (it would be a slam dunk had they been able to get the NFL sunday pass deal, but DirectTV has that) and they are very resonable (i.e., for all the HD programming and tons of channels is less than $40/mo

I'm wondering mostly about Time Warner high speed internet. I had a friend who moved from Boston to Atlanta, got Comcast, and had nothing but problems- I'm assuming because he moved to a new development and cabling work was happening all the time. I'm figuring I might be in the same bought.

I'm for the first time considering DSL as an option from BellSouth.

I'd pretty much a heavy net user (the nature of my business), I welcome and feedback on the stability of Time Warner, BellSouth, or Dish Networks.

Thank You!

Mike
Where I am I'm unfortunately dependent on dial up for my pc as I'm too far out for DSL or cable still, however, I do have Dish Network and I have to say...I've had problems with them. Their customer service is spotty ranging from bad (as in "tough totems, take it or leave it"), to helpful and nice, very dependent upon who answers the phone. Also, they take a minimum of two days before they respond on the "THIRD" day physically and the appointments for service are five hour windows at their convenience, not yours. It turned out that it has been their own equipment that's been at fault (my tv service blacked out for days on end), yet the first time they insisted on me paying for their problem. No amount of reasoning with the agent helped. I submitted a Better Business Bureau complaint the same day and ...miraculously... the charges never appeared on my bill. I'll honestly tell you, usually things are fine, but if something goes wrong, don't expect consistent good service or anything done to help you without first two full days having passed, and...forget your schedule and valuable time, you're only the customer. The world revolves around them and we paying peons just have to accept it. That's my experience with Dish.

Miker2069,
I would say to stay very non-biased when searching for a provider. Each persons experience is going to be different than the next. Think of it in the terms of shoes, someone can say one pair is super comfortable and recommend it to a friend person. The friend might not like nor find the same comfort, it’s on an individual basis. I was hoping I could help you with a few corrections on the above postings, coming from me as a DISH employee.
The information above is not correct. I am not sure when or where it was found. So the correct information is this. We have several different packages, for the one that is referenced above; the DISH HD Silver. Lets start with the Silver package is $44.99, and for the first year it is $29.99. For an HD/DVR receiver it is a monthly fee of $17, HOWEVER if you have this receiver it works up to 2 rooms (3 if you want a ‘slave’ tv, which I am not fond of), and it is included in the package price. There is a monthly DVR service fee of $6, but that is not our fee but the fee of the DRM (Digital Rights Management) group and you will find this fee no matter which company you go with. Your locals are included in your programming as well.
With most of our subscriptions we do not ask for an activation fee. And because it sounded like you were interested in HD, here is some additional information. We have a promotion going on that is call HD Free for Life, and we are the only providers offering anything of this sort right now. What it is, is where you get all of your core HD programming (core: all subscribed channels that offer HD) for free as long as the account is open. There is a lot to consider here and if you have any questions for me, feel free to ask here and I will respond. I hope this helped a little bit!

My Time Warner Cable sucks!!! I just switched from ATT Uverse to Time warner cable and Road Runner and I hate it. TWC is cheaper of course, because everyday I have another problem with a channel, or with an HD channel, or with my DVR. I've had it almost 3 weeks now and absolutely HATE IT!! Furthermore, my Road Runnerhas problems everyday too. Randomly I have problems with loosing connection. I plan to go back to ATT Uverse ASAP!!!!
