It's HER life, and if a lot of snow is worth the tradeoff for other things she misses, it's her business. Besides, there are plenty of other places with even less snow, so if someone is moving just because of snow, they should't be in NC in the first place--they should be in FL or Hawaii
That is incorrect Francois and I wasn't addressing you; I was addressing the OP to find out where they are from and where they are now, and why they don't like it. How long they have been wherever they are makes a big difference as well. Yes, it's her business, but she put out a question on a public forum looking for replies. She didn't say it was the weather, I put in that picture as a "funny" thing; and if she is from the northeast, I can guarantee it made her laugh. Where's YOUR sense of humor today Francois. Geesh.

It happens to lots of folks, we grin and bear it until we can do something about it right? It isn't snow that makes folks move, most of the time it's cost of living, marital arrangements, be closer to children, be closer to the beach, or fell in love with the moutains, and now we're "over it". Keeps the movers and the Realtors in business. Life is short, eat dessert first! and live where you're comfy. Might have to wait a while to sell a house at this point in time though, and that's a bummer.

It's comical that people move to NC because they think it's cheap, never snows, and we're all oozing with Southern Charm.

If you want to move back to what I am watching on the weather channel today, more power to you. I was born here though.

Can you imagine a world where everyone wants to live at the same place. Then the rest of the world would just be setting out there with no one on it. God has a plan for each of our lives. Maybe you got off course and that unhappiness is His way of getting you to go where you are most wanted and needed.

Although I was born in North Carolina, I hated living in Charlotte. It seemed to me that the only thing that counted in Charlotte was money. They did not care about fairness or equality, only money. North Carolina is a big state so you might want to try another location in North Carolina. Or go where the Spirit leads you.

You really have to make lemonade out of a lemon. You haven't given it a chance. Get involved in hunting or fishing it is quite popular there. Hook up with some good ol boys at the pub. It sounds like you are a shut in and need to get out more. It is what you make of it.

Why is it exactly that you don't like in NC? Perhaps it would be making friends and feeling a part of the community you live in. If so, you might try a meet up, volunteer somewhere or evening a local church, etc. Heck, some of the meetups are geared toward ppl who have relocated from other places to where you are. Sometimes it takes a concerted effort to reach out and to feel a part. Either way good luck with your decision.

Five years seems to be ample time to adjust to the area. I am sorry you are unhappy. If you are financially able to relocate and have employment prospects I would certainly hit the road and not look back.

I cannot conceive of living anywhere else, but I was born and raised here. I am sure I would never adjust to living in another area. When my husband was in the military stationed at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, we hit the road on Friday afternoon heading for Carolina (10 hour drive) and turn around Sunday and head back to Maryland.

There is nothing wrong with you, you can attempt to make yourself happy but that will only make you miserable as time passes. Go where you will be happy.

Nothing is wrong with you! I am a native and enjoyed living in the midwest a lot more than I have EVER enjoyed living here, lol. I moved back to NC 8 years ago and get "homesick" for Kansas City on a regular basis.

Of course, when I lived in Kansas City, I missed the mountains of NC . . . which goes to show . . . no place is "perfect." The idea is to find a place that you feel comfortable. Part of that might be your work environment isn't compatible with your style - or you haven't met folks who you feel are really close friends - or you live in a lousy area of your city/town.

I think I would like it a lot better here if I lived on a lake - as that is what I enjoyed when I grew up here. So I might feel warmer to my native state if I had chosen a spot that provided a lifestyle I miss.

On the other hand, it may be that the politics, culture, or even the FOOD - just isn't part of your comfort zone.

If you have the opportunity to move to a different location here in NC (or a different area of your city/town) - try that out b/f giving up on the region. Meeting new folks might be all it takes!

On the other hand, some places leave me cold even tho others gush about them. Austin, Texas gets glowing reports and I am kinda "meeehhhh" about it (altho I love the Dallas burbs).

No area is right for "everyone!"
