Default possible relocation to Fayetteville area

We are possibly moving to the Fayetteville area (Fort Bragg) and I'm looking for suggestions about surrounding areas to live. My priority is a safe area with good schools. I have two children-one in 7th grade and one in 10th grade. I've been looking into different cities and went on greatschools.org. It seems Cameron looks like it has some decent rentals (from what I can tell on the computer) and the school reviews were good. Anyone have experience with this city? How far is it from Fort Bragg? How are the schools?

TIA

I'd use NC School Report Cards

Offical govt ratings.

There is a huge range of rentals in the Fayetteville area (not just inside city limits)

Cameron is northwest of post out in the country. Not really a city or a town more like a village. The 2000 census said 141 people. Decent antique stores. It would be a rather long ride to to post (24 miles). There is no gate on that side. Not much shopping or activites for Kids I would suspect.

Move to Cameron only if you want to be far from everything

The best high schools are Jack Britt and Terry Sanford. Move to those areas if you can.

I agree that Jack Britt and Terry Sanford are the best high schools, with the first to be Jack Britt. Go to schooldigger.com to verify. I live in Jack Britt school district (Birch Creek subdivision) and love it. The neighborhood is very nice and is the safest area in Fayetteville.

Birch Creek is a very nice subdivision. We've sold a few there and the buyers are very happy. The wife has a house listed there at the moment so I can't say much more (no advertising).
