We've had a pack down in our bottom land for the last 2 years or so. About 2 nights a week, we can hear them. They are so loud, we can hear them over the TV. However, when I start walking through the house to grab my gun, they hush. Their hearing is that keen. The most amazing part is that we have about 70 head of cattle down in the bottoms, with a good handful of calves, and they have yet to kill one. They are very hard to hunt as well.....extremely smart and elusive. I believe the whole state has a bounty on them. If you kill one, call the game warden to report it, and they'll write you a ticket that you can send in to the department that handles this type of stuff, and they'll send you a check for 75 bucks. I know as of a year ago, they did this. I dont know if they still do.

Did not find a "bounty" but NC has open season year round for both firearms and archery. Land owners can take at anytime they are "caught" causing damage..

U.S. governement used to offer $5 for each left ear...that might pay for the bullet...
