homeowners ins
After reading that NC tops the nation in weather disasters how hard is it to get homeowners ins? That is one reason we are leaving FL. Allstate would not renew our ins after we had been with them for 30 years and we never filed a claim. All major ins carriers are getting out of FL. Is that also the case in NC?

Homeowners insurance cost in Caldwell County is relatively cheap (along with the other counties in the Mountain Region) compared to many other areas of NC.
NC Department of Insurance

Examples are based on a frame home valued at $100,000 and insured under the HO-3 policy, Protection Classes 1 - 6.

It's the type of policy the DOI picked to do their comparison study. Apples to apples, I guess.

NC tops the nation in weather disasters

Actually, part of the reason NC is tops in weather disasters has absolutely NOTHING to do with hurricanes but with DROUGHT! Weather disasters can also cause the lose of farm lands which is also considered a disaster.
NCDA&CS News Release: N.C. leads nation in loss of farms ... again
Quote:
North Carolina leads nation in loss of farms … again
State lost 1,000 farms in 2005, USDA report says
RALEIGH – North Carolina lost 1,000 farms during 2005, tying Florida and Tennessee for first place in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
These latest numbers continue a trend in North Carolina, which lost 3,000 farms in 2004, also tops in the nation.
