He has completed course work? Check the areas you want to live in.. Raleigh is usually taking resumes? Check city and county sites.

The current NC highway patrol application deadline is March 31, 2011.

Otherwise as Z said, look directly on city websites.

Well first off you should decide WHERE in NC you want to live. It takes over 8 hours to cross and has the sea, mountains and in between. Have you even visited any of NC?
Once you figure that out, then you look at counties that are in areas you are interested in.

They need to find the jobs and go there! You can't be too terribly selective these days!

When you are saying you want to move to a different state that varies widely you need to be darn sure you actually want to move to that state first and at least know a little bit about the type of area you want. Do you suggest they just throw a dart at the map and decide to live there? Doesn't that seems like a stupid idea especially with a baby on the way? She clearly isn't even set on NC because she posted this same post in at least one other state.
Besides, law enforcement jobs are probably the easiest to find. I have been looking for state jobs for 2 years and constantly see them.

As others have said, what is bringing you to NC? Are other states worth looking at?
I have an old acquaintance that works for Dallas, TX PD. He told me that Dallas only requires 45 college credit hours completed to be considered for employment, and they have ongoing openings.
I also hear -this is rumor only- that Gaston County, NC is usually hiring, but the starting wage is LOW. Really, really LOW. They are usually hiring because they can't stay staffed. You would make better money as a manager at McD's than starting wage in Gaston Co.

Gaston County is almost always hiring & the Gastonia City PD is also usually hiring as well.

Most of the starting wages for law enforcement officers in NC are low compared to other states.
NC Highway Patrol starts out at 34K, but if you factor in taxes, a first year Trooper is probably making around 28-29K.
Raleigh PD starts out at around 32K, which is LOW for the area.
A lot of law enforcement officers in NC have to pick up seconds jobs just to survive.

Hi! I know it's been a while since this has been posted, but my fiancee and I are in sort of in the same boat you are. We are looking to move to the Carolinas, and my fiancee is actively applying to law enforcement agencies. Just wondering how everything worked out for you guys, and if you found a department. Congrats on your baby girl by the way! : )
