Did anyone else experience this?
I am curious. Since we moved to North Carolina, Greensboro area, I noticed no one is returning our calls or email. Just one person did, and only one time, never again. It's not that they are trying to avoid us, because usually they pick up after you call them again. Can't be everyone is so terribly busy, right? Is this some kind of a custom here? No offence, but this is getting to me. Originally from Florida, never had that many no-call-backs. It's not even about job search (it's understandable with current unemployment rates), it's about everything - bills, personal, landlord, acquaintances, goverment agencies. Even one person I know quite well that leaves in Florida now, originally from NC, has never returned my calls or emails. The strangest thing is she is like a family member now and face to face we are really friendly. When we do manage to get a hold of all these people by calling them, they all say "Oh, I did receive your message". Hello, why do you need a voicemail then? No offence, again, just want to know if this is common here.

I guess lack of replies from Carolinians just further confirms my observation. I hope one day I will afford to move on and find a more responsive place to live in.

No, hardly ever. I've never seen an issue with people or businesses following-up with an open line of communication.

Nope. People pretty much always return my calls.
With the businesses, try being late on a payment. They'll call ya.

I can tell you why I didn't respond to your original message. It was way too long about nothing. If the voice mail you leave for other people is that long and chatty, about nothing in particular, then the people you call are probably too exhausted from listening to it to call you back.

Also, the subject line, "Did anyone else experience this?" coule be about ANYTHING. Most of us peruse the list of threads and read the ones we find interesting. I overlooked this one a few times because it doesn't tell WHAT you're asking about. I would have titaled my thread "People not returning calls" or something that actually addresses what you're writing about, instead of "Did anyone else experience this?" which could mean about a million different things. If that's the way your phone messages are, maybe people don't understand what you're talking about?

Nope, never have a problem, people are responsive, courteous, and local businesses return calls.
You have perhaps heard the saying "you catch more flies with honey than vinegar"? Even your OP piece has a bit of a vinegary after taste, perhaps North Carolinian's aren't the problem here.

Someone from NC chimes in....
Well: I live in NC and always return calls/voicemails etc. I have no problem with any others returning my contacts and calls.
Perhaps you should just CALL THEM BACK.
Perhaps you are unhappy living in our lovely state.

After reading the replies I realized this was a mean thing to say. I apologize. The replies are harsh and almost mean truth, but truth nevertheless. I do go through some family difficulties and have a hard time adjusting in a new place. Terribly homesick. I will work on my weak points thanks to you all The state of North Carolina is lovely and authentic, most people are friendly that I meet in person, but that Florida just got under my skin and I can't get it out of my mind. Wasn't my choice to move, but I pray I wake up one day and feel it's home.
