Default Thinking of moving to Raeford/Fayetteville area

Hey everyone-

I just got offered a teaching job in Hoke County, North Carolina. I'm 22 and want to know what the atmosphere is like in that area before I commit to anything. Is there places for twentysomethings to hang out? how's the city to live in? What's the population like- people my age or older? How's the safety?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

S.D.

Hoke is a tough county to teach in. They are pretty poor, and don't have many resources for their schools. Fayetteville has a bunch of bars, clubs and other places for young people to hand out. The large military presence ensures there a lot catering to the 20 somethings.

Basically is an army town. Housing though is relatively cheap!

Look West! West of Raeford, that is. Take your job in Raeford, but live in Aberdeen or Southern Pines. There is a life for 20 somethings, just more "laid back" than Fayetteville. And safer to live in than Fayetteville. Housing is inexpensive. Forget Hoke County for living. Mostly families. No night life to speak of. Aberdeen/SP is the same distance from Raeford as Fayetteville is. More 20/30 somethings moving in every day.

HI there-

I just moved to Raeford from Massachusetts about 2 months ago. So far I like it. It's close enough to Fay that there is plenty to do. Huge military area, so lots of younger people (20's and 30's). I haven't had an issue with crime or anything. The area is relatively rural, but I enjoy that well enough. And as mentioned above, housing is very very cheap.

Default Directions around Raeford

I am PCSing to Fort Bragg next week and I recently purchased a home on Little Rock Drive in Raeford. I am having problems locating some addresses on my GPS and on mapquest for the city. I will be riding down to Raeford on the 25th from NJ. Help anyone??
