Default Travel Time/Traffic

I was wondering if I could get a little help! I was offered a teaching position in Faith. However, the only apartments with availability prior to mid September are in Cornelius! MapQuest says it is 45 minutes. Is there a faster way? Is traffic bad in that direction?
Mapquest says to take 73 to 85.

Another route would be to go North on 77 to NC 152 in Mooresville. I think 152 goes right into Faith. Traffic would be better, but it is two-lane all the way across Rowan county...
