Default Deduct real estate and car property taxes in NC?

I moved here last year from NY. I'm just getting ready to send my paperwork to my accountant to do my 2010 taxes. I was able to deduct my real estate taxes in NY (I think my accountant listed them under itemized deductions; I'm not sure where exactly as I don't have my old returns in front of me - but they were 'deducted' somewhere). Can I do that in NC as well? Also, the property tax on cars is new to me. That wasn't something I had to pay in NY so I have no idea if I should send those receipts to my accountant as well. Please advise. Thanks!

Yes, both real estate and property taxes you paid are deductible.

Yes. Both can be deducted from your Federal return.

Thanks for your quick responses. I was really puzzled as I just asked a few people I work with (who have lived here for years) and they both said no. Maybe they somehow misunderstood my question but I don't know how... Anyway, thanks again.

Yes you can deduct both from your tax return as long as you are itemizing your taxes.

Everything is deductable until you get audited LOL. As long as you itemize the taxes are deductable
