Just an opinion please
We recently moved here and are still eating tv dinners or out. That's getting really old and we are looking to start making real meals.
The question is: Which store-Food Lion, Lowe's or Harris Teeter's-has the best quality of meat, chicken, and fish?
Thanks in advance.

Haha Dave O! I thought I was the only one who called it Food Dog! They never recovered from the Primetime Live expose on their meat all those years ago....
Harris Teeter rocks. I shop there 99.9% of the time.

Harris Teeter quality is tops, at least in the Raleigh area. Next would be Lowe's...nice store, not as gourmet/upscale as Harris Teeter, but a very nice store. Food Lion would be last - basically a 'no frills' (although they have updated many of their stores and made them nicer) type grocer with a pretty basic selection, their prices are usually pretty good. They're all over the place, so they're good to have if you need to stop in and get a few things and want to 'get in and get out.'

I agree, although for produce I prefer Lowe over Harris Teeter.

I started calling it the Food Dog in high school. That's what my friends who worked there called it. Does anyone else remember when it was Food Town? That's old school.
Harris Teeter is certainly better, but Food Lion really isn't that bad. Food Lion is certainly better than WinnDixie (RIP), A&P (RIP) or Piggly Wiggly. Don't even get me started on WalMart.

Surprisingly, Winn Dixie, or those that are left, used to be tops in meat in South Florida until a few years ago when they had a big recall. Kind of put a damper on them after that.

I shop at Food Lion. Actually, I get what I can at Target (I wish we had a Super Target) because they're cheaper, then get the rest at Food Lion.
I don't know of any Harris Teeters near me (they're way too expensive anyway) or Lowe's.
There was a Bi-Lo near me for a few years, but they closed down a couple years ago. They were too expensive too though.
There's a Wal-Mart near me and I used to get groceries there for a couple months (a lot cheaper than Food Lion), but I really hate the place. lol I'd rather pay more at Food Lion than go there.
Anyway, I've never had any problems with Food Lion's meats. Apart from the fact that they often don't have enough left when I go on Fridays. Maybe I should start doing my grocery shopping on Mondays.
Oh, and I too remember when Food Lion was called Food Town.
