Well water
How's the water there? Can you drink the well water? Is it rusty? Does it stain your tub?

The well water I had at the first house in Johnston County was some of the cleanest I've ever seen come out of the tap.
Now, not sure if you can get wellwater in the city...

We have well water and a water softener system. Despite my initial concern that it would taste odd, smell different or look unappealing (think Southern Florida green) I'm very happy with the quality.
Plus I like that my water is my business. Mind you I don't water my lawn or have a swimming pool to sap the system but at least I could if I so desired.

I suppose wellwater is only going to be as clean as its source, at most.
If you've got clean wellwater you're blessed. I don't usually drink from the tap but I did drink that natural (underground) spring water we were getting.

The well water is found to be hard, and a softner is something
to think about. Usually sediment can come threw from well water, and it is best to have a filter off your well. They are not expensive.
Stains are not a problem from the water without a softner. They will appear around toilets, and over time may leave some hardness around sinks etc, but with a softner that should never occur if maintained properly.
We also have a reverse osmosis system for my kitchen. Which is very nice.

I am a first time well water owner. Ours is wonderful, it does have a filter system, as well as a water softner, but I drink it right from the tap, it is crystal clear and cold.
We have another well that has been dropped into our pond/swamp area, and it is for irrigating our lawn. It is great for the lawn, but you can definetly tell it comes from the swamp.

Are water softener companies hard to come by here?
