Selling house/Be Careful
Just a little warning to folks planning of a move.
If you are selling your house right about now. Be careful what your asking price will be.
We started out in June with REAL high hopes to be in NC by Sept 1st.
We have now dropped the price by 10grand and have our fingers crossed that it will not hurt us if we can sell at that price.
If we had put the place up in December or January.............we would have been in NC by now.
The market is just sooooooooooo slow.
Our realtor in NC has told us that there are folks in the real estate business who are temporarily leaving until the market bumps up.
So, be careful in what you are going to ask for your place before moving.
Really, really check what homes are selling for in your neighborhood and stay real close to that number or even go a little lower.
Best of luck to you all.
Say a little prayer for us for this Saturday. We have a real big time open house thingy and the new slashed price will be offered.
Dennis / Woodlynne NJ

We put our house on the market in April. Had hopes of being in NC before school started. It has now been almost 4 months. We have lowered the price $50,000. and are now the lowest in our area on the water. We have had about 10 people look at it and no offers. The only houses that seem to be moving in our area are below $200,000 or above 1Mil. I am so very sad because our oldest is already at App. State and will not be able to stay past this year if we cannot get up there. We either need to sell the house or get a good job. So far, both have eluded us.
I keep praying, and trying but we are loosing hope.

Judy and I will include you in our prayers. Judy keeps telling me things happen and have a reason.
We had hoped to be in our place in Shallotte by Sept 1st. Now we have a big auction/open house special thing this Saturday. If we don't get someting done then...........well, we have to keep praying.
If we stay here in Woodlynne NJ I will not be able to retire (64yrs old). And the neighborhood is changing drastically. If, isn't that BIG word, we had put the house up in December we would have been in NC by now.
Again, VB, tonight you are in our prayers.
Maybe St. Joseph will listen tonight.
Denny and Judy

As I read your posts about selling and wanting to move, I haven't put my home up for sale yet, still need to tidy up a bit, but the whole situation is scary, I'm afraid to hear what the local realtor will tell me my home is worth
and frankly I need XXX dollars to make a move, as I'm sure everyone else does. I read and take into consideration everything that everyone posts, these are rough times in real estate, and yet, the realtor that I'm in touch with in Charlotte, tells me that homes are selling faster than he can get listings.
I feel for every person that is in the same boat as you good people and I hope that we all will someday be able to make our moves, at least I'm not rushed to be in any one location, so time is on my side. Good luck to you all
I hope the best for you and hopefully you all will be on your way South soon

Thanks for all the prayers. I will include all of you trying to sell in mine.
I think the most discouraging thing of all is that my husband applied for a job in Hickory over a month ago. We still do not have an answer. Would like an answer so we can either pack or move on. Not knowing is so hard. They are not interviewing anyone else and have two other candidates who want over 20K more a year and relo and a car.
My husband is basically over qualified for this job. Since interviewing for it he was offered one close to home for more money. It is way over his head. How is it you can't get the job you are over qualified for and you get the job you are under qualified for? It's all driving me over the edge!!!!!!!

We also had to drop our price when we sold our home in CA in Feb. 07. We went down forty thousand dollars...ouch! But to stay would have cost us much more in a very short amount of time. It's a no-win situation right now. Even in CA. Just one year before our home would have sold overnight for a hundred and fifty thousand more. Keep positive thoughts....things do happen for a reason. We are here now in NC, have a great home at a resonable price and we are happy! Not rich as far as money goes but so rich in other ways. We are happy!

Thank you for your post. Was feeling a little down on the whole process. It is amazing how venting helps! I will try to be positive. I do believe things happen for a reason and that God has a plan. I quess I just wish He'd let me in on the plan!
