NC has cold winters like every other state. While its rare for areas outside the mountains to have single digit or below zero temps, it can be downright cold with highs in the 30s and lows in the teens and 20s. If it can get to freezing in northern FL, it can get cold here.

About the winter storms, its very different here. Snow is not that common, and I LOVE SNOW. Most people I know love it when it snows.

We do not have enough snow plows to clear roads during a major storm. Ice storms can be very crippling as well.

It definitely wouldn't be too smart to ditch the jackets. Yeah, the temps get in to the 40's or 50's pretty often durring winter; but that's for a few hours in the afternoon..... any time before noon or after 6 is still usually below freezing.

Snow here is nice. It only snows for two hours, and then the sun comes out to dry everything up. Snow becomes headline news for us, in the Fayetteville vicinities.
