Default Can't find any info on Rockingham, please help

Hi,

I recently turned down a Post Office job in Rockingham because the town was so dead and far away from everything. Now I'm kinda having second thoughts, is there anywhere maybe 30 minutes to an hour away that I could live with my wife and have some kind of life? Laurinburg was somewhat close, but its totally dead, so I'm not sure what other town is close by with some things for us to do. Thanks for your help!!

My wife used to work at the Rockingham PO. She stayed awhile and then transferred to Cameron. I worked at the Laurinburg PO and transferred to Pinehurst and then to Vass.
We lived in Southern Pines. Commute was @40 minutes for each of us when we worked in Rockingham/Laurinburg.
Aberdeen/Southern Pines/Pinehurst have a LOT more to offer than either Rockingham/Laurinburg in quality of life, shopping, safety, and homes.

OP, as someone who has to do business there sometimes, I would say you made the right decision. It is very small town, which some people like, but if you found it "dead" (as I do as well), you would have been miserable. There is nothing great close by, either.

Thank you so much for the responses, they really helped out. Havin Fun, how did yall like working at the PO in the Rock and Laurinburg? It seems like it'd be really slow and easy. The Postmaster who interviewed me was a temp for the Rock office and he told me he was staying in a hotel in Pinehurst cause he couldn't see himself staying in Rockingham. He even told me, he didn't want to discourage me from taking the job, but he would never want to live there. If they offer it to me again, I'll definitely live in Pinehurst and just drive 40 minutes to work, that ain't too bad. Thanks for your help!!
