Default NC Drivers License Test

Hello. Wife and I moved to NC not too long ago, but it is has been long enough and now we need to get NC drivers license & NC tags.

I have heard you need to take a test and the questions are ridiculous! We have a packet to study/read, but it is the size of a text book. Does anyone have any tips or "cheap sheets"??

Read through it once and you should be good. The transplants I know who failed didn't bother to look at the book. The people who read the book, or at least gave it a good skim, all passed.

The test typically asks some very North Carolina specific questions that aren't necessarily intuitive, so you need to read through it.

I agree with the above. The book may appear a lot of pages but the size of book is small and big indents with graphics and pictures it not really that big.

Plus it good refresher on handling a car in hazardous conditions.

I took it about a month ago. About 2/3 were general driving questions, and the rest were about NC laws. I saw them even taking a few people out for a road test (obviously not 16 year olds) but I didn't have to.

I read through the little book a couple times the day before I went in and highlighted the specific NC laws since I was most worried about not knowing those. Pay attention to things like how long they can suspend or take away your license for for certain crimes. I think I remember a couple of those on there, although I am sure the questions are rotated for everyone.

Oh! And, review the street signs in the back of the book. You have to take a signs test when you do your vison test. I couldn't think of what the sideways yellow triangle was for the life of me (no words on the sign and I still have to know? Come on!)...but I guess you can miss one or two of those and still be okay. And, guess now if I come across a blank yellow sideways triangle sign out there...now I know it means 'No Passing.'

Found out the hard way, a few weeks ago, that the DMV is one of the places where cuts were made to save state money. Staff might be curtailed so it is best to get there early; possibly bring a book.

My wife just took her test yesterday and passed. Put NC brain dumps into your computer and there are some great tests and some answers you should look at. She just looked at the blue and red areas in the DMV book and took the tests, and read the dumps and passed with no problem. Also take a book or something to keep yourself busy since last week we went there on a Friday at a little after 12 and we were told the wait was 4 1/2 hours. They told us Tuesday thru Thursday are the best days but we were still there 3 hours yesterday. Don't forget to study the signs. They give you 12 and four have nothing but the shapes. Good luck.

the tests are too easy unfortunately.
A trained monkey would pass these tests.

You have nothing to worry about.

I wouldn't say that unless it's changed since I took it. When I took mine years ago they had 5-6 questions that had nothing to do with anything in the book and they weren't just common sense questions. Most of the test is easy but some of the questions you find out are idiotic and are put to try to make you fail.
