Do you have to pay property taxes on apartments or rental houses?

Do you mean if you are the renter? No. Only if you are the property owner.

Hard to say since it depends on where you live within NC, your income and what you own as far as personal property. In my location, I pay 0.515 per $100 of value. In other parts of NC, some pay at a much higher rate and some pay at a much lower rate.

But you do have to pay for what you own inside right (Ie; Fax machines, computers, etc.)? Or is that just business?

If you mean like dishes, furniture, VCR's and TV's, no, since that type of stuff is not a part of your home like a fancy stone fireplace.

Personal Property - is property that is not permanently affixed to real property. Such items to be listed by residential taxpayers are tagged & non-tagged motor vehicles, mobile homes, boats, boat motors and aircraft.

Real Property - is land and also buildings , structures, improvements, and permanent fixtures. Stuff that increases the value of your property.

I'm looking to move to the Concord or Matthews area by the time school starts. My son is in middle school and we are coming for south Jersey (Delran). The schools are wonderful and I have no fear of my sons comings and goings. Can someone tell me if Concord or Matthews is like this. Also what are the property taxes like. I'm looking in about the $100,000 to $ 150,000.00 range. I currently pay $6,000 a year in taxes on my home. Any info or web sites would be great.
