Factual corrections: Charlotte is not the size of the Triad and Triangle combined. There's only a couple of hundred thousand difference between the three, all having populations over 1.5 million. Secondly, the Greensboro Coliseum is the largest in the state, centrally located within NC, and has no permanent tenant. You've got the Bobcats (current NBA strike aside) and the Checkers as permanent tenants in the TWC Arena in uptown Charlotte and that can create some scheduling conflicts as far as major acts go. While Charlotte is centrally located between both Carolinas, whenever a tour skips SC, those folks usually just go to either Atlanta or the NC location which is usually Charlotte or Greensboro.
If you look at the CSA metro populations...the Triad has about 1.6 million people and metro Charlotte (CSA) has about 2.4 million people...almost 800,000 more...so metro Charlotte is 1.5 times larger than the Triad in metro population. Still LOVE the Triad though...smaller & slower pace.
