Default Orlando to North Carolina

Hi everyone, Please help me. I am looking to leave the congestion and madness of Orlando. My wife and I have been living in O-town for 15 years and it has gotten way out of hand. And as both of us are real estate appraisers, buisness is slow down here. So this is what we are looking for:
Some where in N.C not too far from the mountains. I like the country, but I dont want to be to far from the city. And definetely not too far from things like malls, best buys, circuit citys, bookstores, olive gardens, ect....please help. thanks a bunch.

Outlying areas west of Winston-Salem would fit your criteria also.

Look around Elkin. Around a 40 minute drive to WS.

You might want to check out the western part of Rutherford County. That will put you 30 minutes to Asheville, Greenville/Spartanburg SC. A very nice area, and great people. We have people moving here from all over the country. This is the best place ever.

In the Charlotte area, you can look into Lincolnton, Kings Mnt., or Troutman. They're in the metro, have a rual feel, and are affordable. If you want to go a little smaller, Hickory or some of the areas around Asheville would be good. Someone mentioned Rutherfordton. It's not very far from Asheville and Greenville. Good luck!!
