education/daycare (we have a 2 and 9 year old)
affordable housing (3 bdroom..with a max rental budget of 700/mo)
jobs (wife is a hairstylist, i'm pursuing an apprenticeship in electrical/data communications)
progressive (economic growth, community/famility activites, activities for young adults (mid 20 - mid 30 year olds)
any insight would be greatful. thank you.
Just curious why aren't you staying in Columbia?

where my family and i are from (kansas) we find that NC is more progressive in areas of education, opportunities and diversity. we always wanted to be close to the big city and big city activities but live in a relatively slower neighborhood..we also like to expeierence the big cities in the surrounding states,(MD,PA,DC,NY,GA)
NC seems to suit those wants and needs as well.

while we like Columbia, we haven't found many opportunities that we thought (economy taken into account)
with all do respect, being that we've been here less than a year, so we haven't learned about everything here in the city.
but we think NC (charlotte or Raleigh) may offer more.
we visit Charlotte this coming weekend so we'll get to check it out for ourselves. a little bit anyway.
