Default Move from NY to NC

We are considering to move from NY to NC. Can anyone give me some sense, for computer software/programming, which city has more job opportunities? Thanks in advance.

Between Raleigh, Durham and the Research Triangle, you will find plenty of listings. Just be aware that there have been many lay-offs, so you will be competing with local people. Fidelity Investments, Blue Cross and the State have listed openings for mainframe-type jobs. I am less familiar with Java, C, etc. requirements, but there are plenty of tech firms if you have the right specialty.

Can you tell us why you have picked NC specifically to move to? Usually people find a city that's good for them (preferably with a job lined up), not a state. IS there a particular reason it has to be NC? Maybe the best city for what you're looking for is not in NC...but you haven't given us much to go on.

NC's unemployment is among the highest in the US (NY's is 8.0, NC's is 9.9), BTW. Only 4 other states plus DC are higher.
