Where is the best place to move Charlotte or Raleigh or Northern Virginia or Atlanta?
Awfully broad question. What are you looking for? What is your criteria for making a move? Job skills, ability to deal with nightmare commutes, housing price range, what are your reasons for considering these places? Narrow it down to your 5 most important criteria and you will get more informed responses. I lived in northern VA, know Charlottesville well, btw. Originally from RDU area.
I am also starting to think of other areas like Charlotte, Gastonia, and Hickory. I am also checking eastern Tenn. and north S.C. We want cooler weather and to be in or close to the mountains. But it is expensive to live in the mountains so we may have to just be happy being close. I am a photographer my husband works in electronics, need a 2br 2ba house about 1600 sq less than $100,000. don't need school info. Any ideas???? Traffic not a problem we're used to it.
All of the areas you named probably have so many similar situations, commute time (although nova and atlanta probably worse than the others), ability to get employment (they are all large cities, have various opportunities). My guess would be that housing is more in atlanta and nova, based on what i have heard from friends in those areas.
nova is a little colder than the others, but they all have their own uniques qualities.

Leigh and others,
Could you please use your "quote feature" in the lower right instead of *post reply* to reply to someones post? It's sometimes difficult to follow who you may be responding to in a thread when you don't. If you click on *quote*, their post pops into your reply message and you can post your response either above or beneath it.

Thanks!

Sure I can cassie. In this instance I am referring to your post, but generally I am referring to the person who posted the question, unless I say something about the pp (previous poster). sorry for any confusion

Thanks, I appreciate it! It's not so hard to follow when a thread is new, but it is when it gets longer.
Hello,
I live in Hickory, and I think its a great city to live in. Close to the mountains, and a nice lake. Traffic is not that bad. you have the choice of living in city limits, or there are many rural areas to reside in. Folks are friendly
here. Hickory is not a fast paced place to live like the larger cities. If you decide to move here, I want to be the first to say WELCOME
The best choices would be Charlotte and Raleigh. N. VA is too expensive and Atlanta's a bit too congested. Charlotte area's cost of living is a little better than Raleigh's. But you can't go wrong with either area.
