The folks are still spending money faster than they are taking it in. Does anyone remember when the state government was prohibited from having a deficit budget?

Everything is relative, and black numbers are preferable to red numbers.

If you compare NC to almost every other state in the south east US, looking primarily at the "Debt to GDP Ratio" and the "Debt per citizen" NC is faring better than most of our neighbors.

Don't remember the current governor when she was running for office and tooting her horn about balancing the budget? That's all we heard "I'm going to balance the state budget".
We elected this promise - we got what we paid for, higher taxes and more wasteful spending. No balanced budget either.
