Apple has begun moving dirt at its data center's main campus in Maiden, but officials have been mum about what the work entails. A contractor for Apple received an erosion control permit this week for about 34 acres.

Interesting. There will be a large solar farm to help power the building and a fuel cell. The article says : The work described on the application is, “Non-occupied Equipment Building ** Maiden Zoning **.”

It suggests to me that it is a "lights out" data center which will require few human operators. Therefore, there may be very few jobs after the construction phase.

BTW, I had to look up where Maiden is. It is south of Hickory, on the way to Lincolnton and gastonia.
