I would appreciate any comments or opinions on Greenville for retirees from the northeast.
Thanks

*Pros:
Affordable housing and reasonable tax
Great Hospital
Mild Winters
Decent Golf Courses - 90 minutes to two hours to beach.
Small airport
College town
Many chain restaurants
Many assisted living facilities building in the area
Rapid Growth

Cons:
College town
Awful heat and humidity during long summer season.
Downtown mostly dead except for college.
Mall mentality
Away from College and Pitt Hospital, very Old South mentality
Heavy pollen season from so many Pine trees
Mostly chain restaurants
Two hours to large airport
Poorly planned growth
Hurricane Season

PS-Lived in Greenville from 92 to 99 and in NC a total of 12 years.

Don,

I tried to email you privately but it wouldn't go through. Given your reasons for wanting to leave Hickory, as well as some of the exchanges we've had on another thread ( which I'd rather not bring up here) IMHO, you'd be even less satisfied with Greenville.

Best wishes,

Cassie
