If anyone wants to donate to the "VOTE NO" cause, here is a web site for that.

The Coalition to Protect North Carolina Families

Man, I'm a straight person, but it's a downer to see NC has enough intolerant busybodies who take it upon themselves to make life more difficult for others.

Vote for or against NC's proposed amendment. It doesn't matter until the U.S. Supreme Court decides. The sooner, the better.

I'll vote for this amendment or any one like it as soon as they pass an amendment/law that forbids divorce. Since this is about the sanctity of marriage blah blah blah

Default Amendment 1, your feelings towards it

Do you support it or not. For me, there is no way that I can support a constitutional amendment the discriminates against Americans just because of who they love. Its rediculous and I cannot believe that republicans are bowing down to the religious right on this.

So you both are for an amendment that discriminates against people who love each other, but happen to be the same sex?

The trouble about the amendment backers, vis-a-vis what is really says. is this:
Those in favor of the amendment cite personal religious beliefs and raising of children. However, language to that effect doesn't exist in the Amendment. One can still get married without any religious affiliation, one can still have children without getting married and one can still get married without having children. So, what's left is simply a push to deny same sex couples civil rights, responsibilities and privileges based on religious beliefs but then not apply that same litmus test to opposite sex couples. How can this even be legal? How is it not in violation of the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment to the US Constitution?
Folks, this is NOT about religious marriage. Churches have always decided whom they would and whom they would not marry. We don't need a constitutional amendment that vilifies a minority in order to "protect" something that doesn't need protecting.

Exactly, christians and politicians seem more concerned with gay marriage than the high divorce rate of said christians and politicians.
