Can a NJ citizen relocating to NC be able to collect extended unemployment benefits? In this case which state would be responsible for the extended benefits, NJ Or NC? The reason I ask this is because I just heard that NC has eliminated their extended benefits.

Thanks,
Gary

New Jersey.

And I'm glad. Good grief what a mess if people could come live off their new home state when they became unemployed in another state.

Btw? Moving without a job is a horrible idea unless you've got another breadwinner in the house who can cover all your bills alone.

Be cautious, and best wishes.

That's what I thought and was hoping for. I just wanted to get an idea of how long I could collect UI while looking for work in the area. Extended benefits would buy me more time. I just started collecting this week and I want to head down to the Triangle area ASAP. Yes, my wife is the breadwinner for now until I find a job and no, I'm not looking to mooch off any state or anybody. Thanks for the best wishes and for taking the time to answer my question.

Payment of EB is predicated on both resident state (NC) and claiming state (NJ) paying EB. Is this true and can someone tell me if NC has stopped EB payments. Thank you.
