I recently got a job offer to work at the Fort Bragg Army base. I am a single mother of a 5 year old daughter that just started kindergarten this year. Some of the posts on this site has absolutely scared me about moving to that area! I want to be very cautious as to where I live as we are an easy target for crime!! School is important to me, but decent would be ok for the time being. I need to rent an apartment that is a fairly cheap price as this move is going to break the bank as it is. I really would like to find a place that is furnished and has a short term lease option. That way I could get a feel of the place before I make a long term commitment to one area as well as get on my feet once I am there. But I don't want to live next door to any drug lords or anything!!lol Is this possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am prior Navy, so I know what its like living near a base. I just would really like some input from some actual residents that live in Fayetteville and can help me out with specific information about apartments and school districts. Thank you all in advance!!

Exactly how much do you consider to be fairly inexpensive? There are a lot of very desireable locations here in Fayetteville. I am a resident and Real Estate agent in this area. My agency does not manage rentals, but, I will be happy to help you find something within your budget and personal preference. (Hey, you may want to buy a house after you get a feel for the place

Fayetteville gets a bad rap. I have lived here almost all of my life except for brief forays into Durham and when I went to college.

You can always find bad places in a city. There are plenty of nice folks here, and nice places to live.

When I first got married I lived in Haymount Court Apartments on Forrest Road. I don't know what the rent is these days, but my 21 year old God daughter was living there last year on a waitresses' pay. They are two bed room with hard wood floors, in an older, prestigious part of town. 910-323-0200. Your daughter would attend Alma Easom school, which is a wonderful K-1 school right in the neighborhood (I'm a teacher so I know the good schools!)Welcome to Alma Easom Primary School's Home Page (http://www.aees.ccs.k12.nc.us/index.htm - broken link).

You might find a place out in Hope Mills, NC, which is where I work, but I live in Fayetteville. It's right beside the Fayetteville city limits, and a rather quiet little-town type place.

I'd be happy to give you advice on places. risaenglish at enbarq dot com.
