I'm temporarily living out of state and both my registration and inspection have expired. I renewed my vehicle registration online tonight at the DMV website, but still need to get the vehicle inspected.

The DMV say they will mail a copy of my registration within 7 days, but I still have last year's registration, as well as a receipt for my new registration. I know I need a proof of registration to have the vehicle inspected.

Will my receipt of payment for a new registration be enough to have the vehicle inspected? Or do I have to wait until I have the actual DMV issue registration card?

Thanks!

I forgot my Registration Card once and the guy at the inspection station just used my license tag number and the little VIN number plate at the bottom of the windshield to process. This was years ago.

Yep they need the registration now to enter in the computer or something. The old boys down the road do not even let you "slide" anymore.

I plan to call tomorrow to verify one way or the other but do you think that they would accept a receipt of payment for the new registration?

It has my address, VIN, Title #, Plate #, Vehicle make, and total $ paid....
